Lackawanna College’s development into the premier community-oriented two-year college in Northeastern Pennsylvania parallels the development of the region. The College began as a proprietary institution with a full academic program under the direction of H.D. Buck and A.R. Whitmore. John H. Seeley, a noted regional educator, purchased it in 1912. The College is accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, thereby permitting transfer of Lackawanna credits to other accredited institutions. The College has satellite centers in New Milford, Hazleton, Hawley and Towanda.

Pennsylvania College of Technology became an affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University in 1989, after establishing a national reputation for education supporting workforce development, first as a technical institute and later as a community college. Today, Penn College is a special mission affiliate of Penn State, committed to applied technology education. Conveniently located in Williamsport (Central Pennsylvania), Penn College enrolls nearly 6,000 students in bachelor, associate, and certificate programs relating to more than 100 different career areas.

HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, was established in 1964, is the largest and oldest of Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges, and is the sole institution of its kind serving the Central Pennsylvania region. Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences is recognized for outstanding academics and clinical experiences. Our accredited Programs equip graduates with valuable practice experience through on-site and community-based clinical opportunities. The Paramedic Education Program was founded in 1987 to prepare individuals for careers as prehospital services professionals. Emergency Medical Technicians with one or more years of field experience can become a Paramedic in just 11 months.
